  When we moved here from Eugene 20 years ago we started at companion pet clinic. About two or three years in we really felt terrible every time we went there. So we were recommended to Hoffman's and we've gone there and we have loved it from then on. Since starting there we have had 5 dogs and 3 cats and our friends and family bring their animals all the way from Portland to have them seen here. When our beloved pets have been sick Dr. Shimek was there. When it came time to let them end their time here on earth that was done with caring and compassion to us, our children and our pets. We have always had very large breed dogs who, unfortunately, have shorter life spans, but we have always felt that they were kept in optimal health here. An appointment is at least 20 minutes and longer if you have more questions than average. They never rush you and always explain things until you understand and if there are options they're all given with both pro's and con's. I've never been upsold or price gouged here, never had unnecessary tests or procedures recommended. They have a huge variety of flea contro on hand and I'm confident and comfortable in the care we receive. The The older lady who answers the phone and works there as long as I can remember can come off as rude, put out or even irritated but I just ignore her as you don't really have to deal with her. The technicians and both doctors are lovely, loving and very caring. Their goal is to help you keep your pet healthy and happy, and to have you feel the same way.   Both of the vets here are wonderful and incredibly knowledgeable! The staff is friendly and they have the most comprehensive care for the best price in town. We have taken all three of our fur children here since we moved to Salem five years ago and have always had the best experiences. Cannot recommend enough :)
